List roles
GET
https://forumulate.com/api /roles The built-in roles and the capabilities each one carries, which is the vocabulary every membership and grant in the API is expressed in. Read it before inviting somebody, to pick the smallest role that does the job.
Parameters
forumulate-versionstringheaderAPI version negotiation. Send
forumulate-version: 2026-12-01 on every request from a new integration; it is optional only so that integrations written before versioning keep working. Each version includes everything before it:Code samples

200 The slot-role vocabulary: every role a layout slot may name, its ordering, and what happens to content in no role. Static for a given API version, so it is cacheable.

unroledPolicystringrequiredWhat to do with a slot carrying no role.
inherit-previous: it takes the rank of the last roled slot before it, so a verification step stays with the steps it verifies instead of drifting to the end. A slot before the FIRST roled one inherits summary (rank 0).slotKeysstringrequiredA slot KEY is not a role. Roles are this closed, global, six-word vocabulary; keys come from a space’s shape, differ by space type and preset, and an owner may add or omit one. A slot may declare a role and most do not — an unroled slot ranks as
unroledPolicy says, which means a role filter that ignores the policy silently drops most of a page. The declared key→role mapping for every type and preset is published at GET /space-types/slots; one space’s own slots are at GET /orgs/{orgId}/spaces/{spaceId}/shape.400 The request could not be understood — a malformed header, path or query value (
request.malformed). A value that was understood but is not acceptable is a 422 validation.failed.Example
