Short answers to the questions people ask before they sign up for Forumulate.

Domains

Can I publish on my own domain?

Yes, and it is the point. Attach docs.yourcompany.com and we issue the certificate, or publish under a path of a site you already run — yourcompany.com/docs — by forwarding that path from your own proxy. Either way the canonical URLs, the sitemap and every link between your pages sit on your domain, so the search authority your writing earns is yours.

Your content

Do I own what I publish?

You do. We claim no ownership. You can export everything as Markdown or a zip at any time, and deleting your organization takes it off the public web immediately.

What happens to my documentation if I leave?

Export it first — Markdown, keeping the tree — then delete the organization. Deletion is immediate as far as the public web is concerned: pages stop serving, sitemaps stop listing them, and any domain you attached stops answering. Backups age out on their retention schedule.

API and agents

Can an AI agent write into my spaces?

Yes. Ask a space for its shape, post a piece made of the slots it declares, and read back what is still missing. The same call writes a documentation page, a blog post, a roadmap card or a changelog entry. There is an MCP server too, so an assistant can do it without you writing any glue.

How much does it cost?

Four plans. Free is $0 and stays free, Starter is $19 a month, Business is $99 a month, and Enterprise is quoted.

Every feature is in the box on every plan. The plan changes the limits, not the feature list — there is nothing in the product a lower tier cannot reach, only amounts it cannot exceed.

What happens at the limits

Readers are never seats. A seat is somebody who can edit. However many readers you have, and whether or not they sign in to a gated space, they do not count.

Seats, categories, languages and storage are counted live from their own tables, so deleting something frees the quota immediately.

Emails, page views and AI credits are metered into counters — monthly for the first two, daily for AI. A monthly counter rolls over on your billing period, not on the first of the month.

Any single limit can be topped up without changing tier. An add-on adds to the plan's limit.

AI runs on your own provider key. A credit is a unit of our orchestration, not a charge from your provider; your provider bills you for the tokens separately.

You can read your organization's own usage at any time from GET /orgs/{orgId}/plan.

The full table, including how each row is measured, is in Plans and quotas. The plans themselves are on the pricing page.

How do I cancel?

You cancel it yourself, from the console, and you do not have to ask us.

  1. Open your organization and go to Plan (/o/{orgId}/plan).

  2. Choose Manage billing. That opens the billing portal our payment processor hosts.

  3. Cancel the subscription there.

You need the manage billing permission to see that button — by default an organization's owner and admin hold it.

What cancelling does. When the subscription ends, the organization returns to the Free plan. It is not deleted, nothing is unpublished, and your content stays where it is. If you are above a Free limit afterwards — more staff seats than two, say — the limit applies the next time you try to add one, not retroactively to what already exists.

If you want it gone instead. Deleting the organization is a separate, deliberate act: open Settings and delete it there. That removes its spaces and their content.

If you want your personal account gone, that is a third thing, in Account → Data & privacy. Export first from the same place — it hands you everything we hold about you — then delete. Deleted content leaves the public web at once and ages out of backups afterwards.

Where is my data stored?

Forumulate is operated by Alpha Visionary LLC, and we run the whole of it — there is nothing for you to install or host.

Isolation. Each organization's data is separated at the database level rather than by application code: every table that carries an organization is governed by a row-level policy, so a query made in one organization's context cannot read another's.

In transit and at rest. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are held only as hashes, and since September 2026 the credential material lives in Atlas, our own identity service, which every staff sign-in goes through. Card numbers never reach us; our payment processor handles them.

Who else touches it. Atlas is a subprocessor for every Forumulate account. The hosting, CDN, object-storage, transactional-email, payment and error-monitoring providers are named in our privacy policy. If you need a signed DPA or the subprocessor list as a document, write to the address published in security.txt.

Getting it back out. Account → Data & privacy exports everything we hold about you, and deletes it on request. An organization's owner can export or delete the organization. Backups are kept on a rolling schedule and then deleted; content you delete leaves the public web immediately and ages out of backups after that.

Retention. Content stays while you keep it. Audit records follow the retention period your organization sets.
