Environment variables

Environment variables hold configuration that changes between environments. Secrets hold values that must never appear in your code or logs.

Variables

Declare plain-text values under [vars] in ember.toml. They are available on env:

  async fetch(request: Request, env: Env) {
    return new Response(env.GREETING);
  },
};

Secrets

npx kiln secret put API_KEY

Secrets are encrypted at rest and only decrypted inside the runtime. They are never shown again after you set them.
