How Tallyline ships agent-written code to production in five minutes

Priya Raman · 1 min read

Tallyline builds reconciliation software for mid-sized finance teams. Two years ago a release took a day. Now a typical change goes from an agent's draft to production in five minutes, and the team deploys more than seventy thousand times a month.

The pipeline

  1. An agent opens a pull request against a narrowly scoped task

  2. A preview deployment boots in under twenty seconds

  3. A suite of contract tests runs against the preview, not a mock

  4. A human approves on the preview, then merges

We stopped reviewing diffs and started reviewing behaviour. That one change made agents useful to us. — Head of Platform, Tallyline

What made it safe

Every deployment is immutable and every one has its own URL, so rolling back is pointing traffic at a URL that already exists. Tallyline rolls back about twice a week and nobody calls it an incident.
